SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): fly pond fishing well. The MD of Fastnet had a good couple of hours with five fish, biggest 5lbs. Capper released six on a short cr ticket.
Bait pond still fishing well. Five Glasgow taxi drivers all caught their limit. David Faulds and young Lee Robertson five fish for 10lbs 13oz. Old Alex from Irvine two fish for 5lbs 3oz. Best bait power bait.
Coarse pond starting to fish well. Mike Reilly from Saltcoats had six carp between 4 and 10lbs, Ian Whitson had about 20lbs of silvers, S. McGowan had 18 skimmers and 30 roach.
The coarse pond will be closed on Sunday, March 25 until 4pm due to the fish 4 2k qualifier. Good luck to everyone who enters.
COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): a good week for most attending fishermen with most anglers catching.
Bait pond: S. Kelly from Ayr caught three fish weighing 8.11 lb, R. Dean from Kilmarnock caught two weighing 4.3 lb, B. Collie from Ayr caught two weighing 4.5 lb, Mr Murray from Glasgow caught a nice rainbow trout weighing 2.75 lb, M. McLeod from Ayr caught four weighing 8.1 lb.
Fly pond: Mike Denton from Ayr caught and released 11 fish over two visits using nomads and caldy, Ted from Ayr caught two using a green nomad, Mr Miller from Ayr caught 10 using a nomad, Mr Dowson from Skares caught two using a green blob, Mr Greenwood from Liverpool caught five using a cruncher, Mr Murdoch from Symington caught three using various flies, Jamie Walker from Ayr caught two weighing 5.2 lb using a red headed damsel, Mr Miller from Kilmarnock caught three using an olive buzzer.
RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): the eagerly awaited first day was not a disappointment to the multitude who came to try their luck.
First fish on the bank was a lovely 1¾ brown taken on a gold mepp by 85-year-old Joe Smolcic, unfortunately it was also his last.
First home were Frick Goudie and son Brian with four each on red and gold mepp and silver toby taken in Bottom Bay but in their excitement they forgot the weights.
Bob Younger had a 2lbs brown and 2lbs 2oz rainbow in two casts on The Dam Wall then another two rainbow for 4lbs 4oz in two casts at Swan Isle, all taken on a 2” rapala.
Closely followed by Kevin Hiddleston all taken on a silver mepp and weighing in at 8lbs 9oz. After listening to his ‘Gillie’, Jim Gillespie took another four rainbow in the same spot on a silver mepp for 8lbs 8oz.
Things settled down a might but remained steady for the rest of the day. Twelve-year-old Liam Ross had four on a blue and silver mepp, brother Joseph the same but had to hang around waiting on laid back dad Stevie to get four on power bait and, as he never gets excited, he has no excuse for forgetting the weights.
Jim Phillips four rainbows for 11lbs on a red and silver mepp, Gordon Cowan from Stirling had four for 9lbs 3oz on The Worm, Derrick Caldwell took four rainbow for 9lbs 8oz on a silver mepp, Davie Boyd same for 9lbs 11oz, W. Ure four rainbows for 9½lbs on a floating worm and power bait.
In the fly deparment, Tom Collins took three rainbow for 7½lbs and one brown 1¾lbs all on a yellow dancer, Jim Tomlinson had four rainbow on a Black Fritz, Neil McGinn two rainbow for 6lbs 14 oz, one was 4lbs, Davie Miller two on The Ace of Spades and Allan McGinn he just returned four fish?
In the amnesia department, M. Spence, J. Lothian, Gavin Derby, Robert McLean and Robert Scott just remember catching four each?
Junior member Rory Scott had three rainbow for 6lbs 7oz on power bait, Robert Simpson who is always happy with one caught two, Jim McGuffie two on the floating worm, both Pinky and Andy Given were happy with two rainbows each for 4lbs until arch rival “I am Legend” Shalako produced his 5lbs 4oz rainbow and 2¾lbs brown.
Many others were happy with one for the pan including Hugh Kelly who it was nice to see back after ill health.

BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the fishery was visited by Albion Angling Club. At the weigh- in, a total of 25 fish were caught, heaviest bag went to F Kelly with four fish for 8lb 8oz.
Fly pond: Tam Boyle six for 13lb 15oz, The Rev from Irvine one for 2lb, T McFarlane two for 4lb 2oz, H Diamond two for 4lb 10oz, A Malloy one for 2lb, S Irvine two for 4lb, T Hill one for 2lb 5oz, R Finnie two for 4lb 13oz.
Bait pond: J Young eight for 16lb 9oz, M McGorrie four for 8lb, T Reilly four for 7lb 10oz, P Cocker four for 7lb 8oz, J Ritchie four for 7lb, R Peebles four for 7lb 10oz, J Quail three for 6lb 4oz, Kim three for 6lb, J Patterson two for 5lb, K Lawrie two for 4lb 6oz, Spud two for 3lb 14oz, R Halligan three for 6lb, K Roberts (age 7) two for 3lb 14oz, S McCleland two for 4lb 1oz, D Armstrong three for 6lb, R Purdie one for 2lb 2oz, A Buntin one for 2lb, K McCall two for 3lb 14oz.

Dalvennan Open Day was a great success. Lots of fish caught and great fun had by all. A big thanks to all who took part and congratulations go to Joe Morrison for lifting the Dalvennan Shield.
BROOMHILL (Patna/Rankinston B730): the first of the spring weather has brought excellent fishing to Broomhill over the past few days with good numbers of fish being caught.
Best flies small lures/ pheasant tails/nomads. On Sunday, Dave Tunnock and Don Wallace released 29 fishing from their float tubes.
