Angling reports: March 2

COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): weather is improving and the fishermen are starting to come out again. Remember Monday to Thursday complimentary soup, tea or coffee from the Waterfront Restaurant for all fishermen.

Bait pond: E. McCrorie from Ayr caught a nice rainbow trout weighing 2.12 lb, Kaylum Ferguson, aged 10 from Drongan, caught five fish weighing 11.2 lb, D. Evans from Ayr caught three fish weighing 5.12 lb, J. Davidson from Ayr caught two fish weighing 5.12 lb, Kieran Graham from Drongan caught his first two fish weighing 3.12 lb.

Fly pond: H. Barclay from Kilmarnock caught five fish using a F.U. fly, B. Stewart from Ayr caught four fish using a bloodworm, S. McTear from Coylton caught and returned a nice rainbow trout using a red headed damsel, G. Scobie from Girvan caught seven fish using a white cat, K. Scobie from Girvan caught four fish using a white fritz, B. Hunter from Dreghorn caught two nice fish on a rabbit, M. Denton from Ayr caught four fish using a red headed damsel.

BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the Park Bar Angling Club visited and caught 23 fish between them.

Other catches: fly pond: C Campbell four for 9lb, A Blair three for 7lb 6oz, D Hamilton three for 8lb 5oz, M G Gorman one for 3lb, T Kirkwood one for 2lb 6oz.

Bait pond: J Lothian eight for 17lb 14oz, J Paterson five for 11lb 8oz, C Greenan two for 4lb 1oz, J Frew two for 4lb 10oz, B Kirkwood two for 4lb 1oz, David Campbell one for 2lb 4oz, Darrell Campbell one for 2lb 5oz, B Boyle one for 2lb, B Sillars two for 4lb 2oz, J Royals four for 8lb 9oz,M Buntin two for 3lb 14oz, E McKerrow one for 2lb 3oz, E Atlee two for 4lb.

SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): fly pond fishing well. John Martin from Fife released eight on a black rabbit, Capper released five, also on a black rabbit.

Bait pond fishing very well. Francis Hainey from Annbank had four fish for 9lb 8oz caught on worm.

Coarse pond starting to fish better. Murdo Gunn had two carp, biggest was 6lb. Good to see some nice silver fish, one angler had a roach estimated between 2lb 8oz and 3lb, best bait was maggot.

Springwater bait competition is on the fly loch on Sunday, March 4. £100 first prize, depends on how many enter.Junior prize cost £25 for five fish plus lunch. Bookings to 01292 560343.

BROOMHILL TROUT FISHERY (Pata, Rankinston): fly pond fishing well. Danny Szulc eight c/r, D. Hamilton two kept 5lbs 4oz, Archie Thom two kept 4lbs 10 ozs. T. Wilson four c/r, B. Thomson five c/r, Kevin Smith nine c/r, G. Kerr five c/r, John Glover six c/r, B. Richmond nine c/r, R. McIntyre 11c/r, Robbie seven c/r, T. Hopkins four kept 9 lbs 8ozs, Catriona Hopkins three kept 7lbs 7ozs. Best flies small lures fished deep.
