PRESTWICK’S Josh Neil upset the seeding to win the under 19 men’s singles at the Scottish Junior Badminton Championships at Ravenscraig.
The 16-year-old second seed came from behind to beat top seed Matthew Carder 18-21, 21-18, 21-19.
And that denied the South Queensferry boy the chance of a title treble.
Josh is now training in Sweden where he attends a school.
There was consolation for Carder when he and Mauchline’s Gregor McVean beat Lewis Gallacher (Kilmarnock) and Ben Torrance (Prestwick) 19-21, 21-16, 22-20 in the men’s doubles.
Mauchline’s Holly Newall reached the under 15 singles final before losing 21-17,13-21, 21-15 to Julie MacPherson (Edinburgh).
Cara McCulloch (Catrine) and Shona Whillans (Longniddry) were beaten in the girls’ doubles final while Mauchline pair Callum MacMillan and Tammi Gibson were pipped in the mixed doubles.
