Angling reports: September 23

SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): the fishery will return to normal stocking this week as the problems with the water temperature and oxygen levels are now back to normal.

Springwater thanks Henry from the River Doon trout company and SEPA for all their help. Apologies to all customers for the trouble this caused. Tight lines: Willie and Toni.

COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): fishing has been very good despite the weather with fish taking all types of flies.

Bait pond: Mr Pringle from Ayr caught three fish weighing 6.35 lb, Mr Roberts from Ayr caught four weighing 8.75 lb, Mr Mathews from Coylton caught four fish weighing 8.2 lb, Debra Quinn from Motherwell caught a nice 2.5 lb rainbow trout, Katie Ann Hamilton from Motherwell caught a beautiful fully finned rainbow trout on her first visit, Cobie Jarvie caught two fish weighing 4.5 lb.

Fly pond: D. Duncan snr from Drongan caught and released nine fish using various dry flies, D. Duncan jnr from Drongan caught 22 fish over two visits using mainly dry flies, K. Campbell from Cumnock caught seven fish using a black fritz, J. Morrison from Ayr caught 16 fish using his green machine, T. McCormack from Stewarton caught and released five fish on a f,up fly, C.Mulhearn from Irvine caught three very nice rainbow trout, H. Grant from Beith caught two fish weighing 4.5 lb, I. Bruce from Beith caught three fish weighing 6.8 lb.

RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): due to the sudden death of Bill Douglas and as a mark of respect, the club closed the reservoir and have rescheduled the over 60s and juniors competition for Sunday, October 2 alongside the founder members’ competition.

Bill was a well liked, hard working and respected member and the club would like to express their sincere sympathy to his family.

BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the fishery was visited by the Park Tavern AC who caught 56 fish between them.

First was M Park with four fish for 9lb 14oz, second was A McGhee with four for 8lb 12oz while third was B Bain with four for 8lb 10oz. Junior winner was J Royals with five fish for 11lb 2oz, second was G Wylie with two for 5lb 14oz.

Fairfield also visited catching 23 fish. Heaviest bag went to T Houston with four fish for 9lb.

Fly pond: John Strain one for 5lb 2oz, Ian Skilling 11 for 26lb 3oz, T Gardener four for 9lb 7oz, C Campbell four for 8lb 10oz, A Finnie four for 8lb 6oz, J Smith four for 6lb 8oz, A McKie two for 4lb 3oz, The Rev from Irvine four for 7lb 8oz, B Anderson two for 4lb 4oz, Reid two for 4lb 15oz, A Kirkwood one for 3lb 2oz.

Bait pond: Logan James Anderson two for 3lb 12oz, Cameron Stewart four for 6lb 11oz, Kim four for 7lb 8oz, W Ritchie four for 7lb, G McCarle two for 3lb 8oz, J Stewart two for 3lb 10oz, J Henderson two for 3lb 12oz, S Rynn two for 4lb, S Springthorpe four for 7lb 14oz, A Todman two for 3lb, D McCall one for 2lb 8oz.

BROOMHILL FISHERY (Patna/Rankinston B730): fishing improving towards end of week.

Fly pond: R.Stillbert two c/r, D. Milligan four c/r, D. Szulc two c/r, R. Timson two kept 5lb 3oz, B.Tanner three c/r, S. McGill four c/r, M. Jones two c/r, Barry Black eight c/r, Sean Black eight c/r, Gavin Ward six c/r, Kevin Ward eight c/r, Kevin Smith six c/r, J. White one kept 2lbs.

On Sunday, the Lame Ducks AC for disabled had their final fishing competition of the season. The club championship was won by Tom Ward of Cumnock for the second year running.

Results: Tony Lithgow four c/r, Tom Ward four c/r, John Hood two c/r, Jim Currie three c/r, George Hunter three c/r, Garry Thow two c/r.
