BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): winner of the Mima Harvey open fly competition, sponsored by Gamesport of Ayr, was Stewart Hamilton with four fish for 9lb 11oz. Second was Joe Morrison with four fish for 9lb 9oz while third was John Morton with four for 9lb 8oz.
Winner of the Burns Trout Fishery open bait competition, sponsored by Crockets Equestrian and Outdoors, was Davie Ewart with four fish for 8lb 3oz. Second was L Ingram jnr with four for 8lb 3oz while third was J Muir with four for 7lb 12oz. A total of 89 fish were caught.

RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): another exceptional week, Murray Spence sportingly decided to stop at seven fish, John Lothian three rainbows and two brown, John McCririe four rainbows on the worm, T. Wilson four on power bait, John Gibson three rainbow one brown, day ticket G. McKinnon three rainbow, and pal J. Taylor two rainbow, Lewis Kerr three on floating power bait, Robert Baillie three on power bait, John Anderson three on power bait for 8lbs 9oz, T. Collins two rainbows on a Black and Green Viva and one brown, G. Lewis two for 5lbs on the worm, 85-year-old Joe Smalcic two rainbows on power bait including one for 4½lbs shaded ever so slightly by “I am Legend” Shalako with his 12lbs rainbow, Henry McConnell one brown on a Cats Whisker, Jim Phillips one brown for 2lbs on a Blue and Silver Mepp, W. Ure one rainbow for 1 3/4lbs on Spring Green power bait, Jim Gillespie one for 2½lbs on the floating worm.
The club thank the six members who managed the recent work party and the tremendous job they did.
The second leg open competition is on Sunday, September 4 when a good attendance would be appreciated.
COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): the fly pond is fishing exceptionally well with fish being taken on all types of fly. The kiddies’ pond is now open for juniors only.
Bait pond: Five-year-old Hollie Hunter caught her first two fish on the junior pond and is now hooked on fishing. David Newell from Ayr caught a nice rainbow weighing 2.6 lb, B. Stevenson from Dalmellington nice 2 lb, P. Curtis from Mossblown caught four fish weighing 8.4 lb.
Fly pond: R. McLean from Ochiltree caught and released eight fish, T. Jarvie from Drongan caught and released 20 fish over two sessions, Hugh Munro caught and released nine fish using dry flies, A. Easton from Ayr caught four fish using a black fritz, Andy Reid from Ayr caught 10 fish over two night time sessions, Coodgie Reid from Ayr caught 11 fish during two night sessions, Ian Muncie from Dreghorn caught and released 18 fish over two visits, H. Mitchell from Port Lethen caught six fish using various flies, Mr. Alexander from East Kilbride caught and released five fish, Robert Sharp from Kilmarnock caught two fish weighing 4.2 lb, B. Reid from Houston caught two fish weighing 4.4 lb, Mr Grayson from Ayr caught and released 12 fish, Davie Galloway from Prestwick caught and released three fish.
