BURNS TROUT FISHERY: On Sunday (August 14), the fishery is holding the Mima Harvey open fly competition, sponsored by Gamesport of Ayr and also the Burns Trout Fishery open bait competition, sponsored by Crocketts Outdoor and Equestrian.
The two start at 8am and finish at 4pm. Cost will be £15 per angler with a four fish limit, heaviest bag wins. Trophies for first three. Bookings to 07527 405715.
Irvine District Angling Club visited and caught 17 fish. Seniors: 1. R McCairn one for 2lb 8oz, 2. P O’Hara one for 2lb 2oz. Young ladies: Serina McKean one for 2lb 1z, Under 7s: John Dixon one for 1lb 14oz, 12 to 15 years: 1. A Birrell four for 7lb 10oz, 2. C Riley two for 4lb 12oz, C Greenan one for 2lb 9oz.

RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): Water fishing exceptionally well and nice to see others getting a turn.
Joe Smalcic 10 rainbows on power bait including a 4lbs fish, Henry McConnell three brown on an Ace of Spades, two rainbow on a Dry Dragon Fly including one for 4lbs 8oz and one blue on the Ace of Spades.
Neil McGinn three rainbows at 3lbs 7oz, 2lbs 8oz, 2lbs 6oz, and one brown 2lbs 6oz on a Montana Nymph, John Anderson four rainbow for 10¾lbs on the Floating Worn, Alex McNeil four rainbow for 9½lbs on the Floating Worm, John Balfour three rainbows for 7lbs and a brown for 2lbs on the running worm, J. Lothian four fish, Tom Collins a rainbow for 3lbs and a brown 1¾lbs on a Cunnano, John Gibson and D. Kelly two each, G. Lewis one rainbow for 3lbs on power bait, D. Millar one brown for 1½lbs on the fly, Andy one brown for 1lbs 15oz on a Montana Nymph.
A work party has been arranged for Sunday (August 14) from 9am until midday. A good turnout would be appreciated.

SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): Both fly and bait ponds started to fish a bit better with the rain and weather not being so warm. It was good to see Colin Walker back and with some nice fish to show. He released a brownie of about 4lbs and a rainbow about 4lbs 8oz. Best flys drys and nymphs.
Bait pond: best catch goes to George Allardyce of Airdrie with three fish for 7lbs 2oz, all caught spinning.
Coarse pond: some nice carp to Dave Morris and Dazz fishing big baits so the roach can't take it.
COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): Java club from Hamilton had a great day’s fishing on the bait pond with everyone getting their fish.
The fly pond has fished very well all week with people catching on all types of flies.
Bait pond: Mr Neville from Ayr caught three fish weighing 6.2 lb, J. Mackie from Prestwick caught five weighing 9.4 lb, Mr Calder from Ayr had three weighing 5.8 lb, Liam and Morgan Fitzsimmons from Ayr caught five on their first attempt at fishing, M. Robertson from Prestwick caught two weighing 3.10 lbs, Mr Neville from Prestwick caught three weighing 6.2 lb, J. Crawford from Stewarton caught two weighing 4½lbs, Mr Milligan from Ayr caught four weighing 8.8 lb.
Fly pond: T. Jarvie from Drongan caught and released four fish using a nomad lure, J. Calderwood from Perth caught seven using a cormerant, MrCope from Ayr caught two weighing 5½ lb using a black fritz, S. Cope from Ayr caught seven fish using an ace of spades, I. Muncie from Dreghorn caught 13 using various buzzers, J. McConville from Wishaw caught nine, J. McConville snr from Wishaw caught three, R. McCabe from Wishaw caught four.
