BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): On Sunday, August 14, the fishery is holding the Mima Harvey open fly competition, sponsored by Gamesport of Ayr, and also the Burns Trout Fishery open bait competition sponsored by Crockets Outdoor and Equestrian.
The two competitions will start at 8am and finish at 4pm. Cost is £15 per angler with a four fish limit, heaviest bag wins, prizes and trophies for first three. Bookings to 07527 405715.
Catches: fly pond: Tam Boyle, eight for 16lb 6oz; J Clegg, two for 3lb 10oz; I Skilling, eight for 17lb; The Rev, three for 5lb 8oz; D Lamb, two for 3lb 12oz; A Todman, two for 3lb 13oz.
Bait pond: A Kerr, one for 6lb 14oz; nine-year-old D Smith, one for 2lb; R Smith, two for 3lb 10oz; D McCluskie, two for 5lb 6oz; W Nixon, four for 7lb 8oz; J McLelland, three for 6lb; R Allan, two for 3lb 10oz; I Crosbie, four for 7lb 8oz; Kim Dunnachie, two for 3lb 12oz; L Millar, two for 3lb; J Lawley, two for 3lb 8oz; M Ferguson, two for 4lb; C Allison, one for 1lb 14oz; B Brown, two for 3lb 8oz; the Anderson clan, six for 11lb 2oz; J Letham, one for 1lb 8oz; J Crosnie, one for 1lb 12oz; B Robertson, one for 2lb; A Brownlie, one for 1lb 13oz.
SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): Both fly and bait ponds are fishing hard due to the hot weather and the water warming up. Catching better in the evenings when it’s cooling down a bit. Best flies black buzzer and dry flies.
Coarse pond fishing well as these fish like the hot weather. Good catches of carp – Dave Morris had six on a short session up to 8lbs, Billy had a good tench and a 8lb carp while Dezz had six over two short sessions.
COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): The work on the bait pond has been worth while with most fishermen catching their bags. The kiddies pond will be up and running mid-week.prices are still to be arranged,the pond will be for juniors only.
Bait pond: Mr McGuinn from Drongan caught three fish weighing 6.6 lb, four-year-old Kaleb McAleaney from Kelloholm caught two fish weighing 4.2 lb, 11-year-old Amy Gorman from Coylton caught her first fish on the bait pond, then went on to catch two fish on the fly pond as well.
Mr.McEwan junior from Coylton caught his first two fish on the bait pond using power bait, M. Harte from Cumnock caught two weighing 4.3 lb, B.Wilson from Coylton caught two weighing 3.75 lb, S. Auld from Kilmarnock caught four weighing 8.12 lb.
Fly pond: Smudge from Ayr had a great day landing 21 fish using a cat’s whisker and a viva. Mr Taylor from Ayr caught six fish using a cat’s whisker, Mrs. A.Wilson from Coylton added another fish to her ever mounting total using a dry fly.
Ian Muncie from Dreghorn caught six fish using an okee dokee, J. McGinn from Kelloholm caught one fish weighing 2.8 lb, P. Quinn from Motherwell caught a nice fish using an orange blob, M.Quinn from Ayr caught and released three fish using a red and brown zonker.
