RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): the John Baillie Memorial Trophy on Sunday was well attended but glorious weather didn’t help the fishing or the staying power of some competitors.
David Miller lifted the silverware with six rainbows for 12lbs 8oz on a Green Montana. Second was Andy McKissock with four rainbows on a Yellow Dancer while third was Tom Collins with three fish for 6lbs 4oz on Green Fritz.
Among others were Robert Scott with three rainbows for 5lbs 10oz on power bait, Derrick Caldwell with three fish for 5lbs 6oz on a Silver Mepp, Andrew Anderson with two for 4lbs on power bait, uncle John Anderson with two for 3lbs 14oz on power bait, Steven Ross a nice 3lbs 1oz on power bait, Andy Wilson one for 2lbs on power bait and Pinky one for 1lbs 110z on power bait. ‘I am legend’ Shalako sportingingly declined to weigh in giving others a chance.
A work party has been arranged for this Sunday (July 10) from 9am until midday and a good turnout would be appreciated.

SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): fly pond fishing better with small nymphs and small lures being brought in very slowly. Best catch was Robert Glass from Preston with eight rainbows and three brown trout.
A limited number of float tubes will be allowed during the week. Call the fishery for more details.
Bait pond fished hard at the weekend due to the warm, sunny days. Best bait was maggot and worm.
Coarse pond fishing well for silvers and some carp being caught. Ayrshire Pike Club’s match was won by Dave Paxton.
Springwater club had their all night match which was won by Jim Anderson with more than 50 lbs.
BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): winner of the open junior competition was Colby Fleming with four fish for 8lb, second was Luke Hendry with four for 7lb 2oz, while third was Owen McKeen with two for 3lb 15oz.

COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): the fishery has been carrying out grounds maintainance all week, removing bushes to make more room for back casting.
Fishing has been difficult due to the bright weather and heat but for the people who persevered the results have been rewarded with hard fighting fish. Brown trout has been added to both bait and fly lochs.
Fly loch: J. Samson from Ayr caught and released two rainbows caught on CDC flies, B. Wilson from Cumnock released one fish caught on an imitation white moth fly, J. Boyle from Ayr caught two rainbow trout using a white cats whisker, A. Boyle from Ayr caught two fish using small dry flies, I. Muncie caught two fish on size 18 CDC flies.
Bait loch: A. McCandlish from East Kilbride caught four fish weighing 8¼lbs, A. Arnott from East Kilbride caught three fish weighing 6½lbs.
BROOMHILL FISHERY (Patna/Rankinston B730): weather a lot better this week. Fly: Barrie Black two c/r, Alan Murray one kept 2lbs, Olaf two c/r, Danny Sculz five c/r, Budgie one c/r, Jim McFadzean two c/r, Graham Thomson four c/r, David Wilson six c/r, W. Brown two c/r, Wilson Gillespie three kept 8 lb 7ozs.
Best flies: black beetle green/black fritz, various buzzers.
Bait pond is fishing very well.Craig Tara AC had a good day with some 23 fish being caught.
J Findlay two at 3lbs, Kingsley two kept 4lbs, Davie one kept 1lb 7oz, Robert two kept 3lb 4oz, Alec two kept 4lb 7oz, Don two kept 4lb 4oz, Jamie two kept 2lb 4oz, Eli one kept 1lb 12oz, Lewis one kept 1lb 8oz, Ralph two kept 2lb 8oz, Jim two kept 2lb, Alec with heaviest fish at 2lb 8oz.
Mr Miller from Ayr two kept 4lb 12oz, Rab and Tam Knox four kept 9lb 13oz, Douglas one kept 1lb 12oz. Power bait and maggots fishing well.
