SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): Top catch in the Macmillan cancer support big fish competition went to A. Nimmo with four fish for 8lbs 14oz. Heaviest went to Robert Mackenzie with a fish of 3lbs 10oz. Junior winner was John Lyall.

The prize for the most sponsor money collected went to John Logan with a super £1120. The total raised by the anglers was £3852.50. Well done to everyone.

Bait pond fishing well. John Atkin five fish for 10lbs 4oz while nine-year-old Adam McNally from Liverpool had five fish for 12lbs 8oz. Best bait power bait.

Coarse pond: the Springwater summer league was won by Mark Trueman with 18lbs. Bookings for the Springwater bait competition on June 26 to 01292 560343.

BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the fishery is holding an open junior (under 16) competition (fly or bait) on Sunday, July 3 from 9am to 4pm. Four fish limit, heaviest bag wins, cost £15. Bookings to 07527 405715.

Dailly Angling Club visited and caught 25 fish between them. Heaviest bag went to D. Scobie with four fish for 8lb 13oz.

RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): after a well publicised build-up, the response to the club’s latest event was disappointing to say the least with only seven rods participating.

The magnificent seven had no cause for complaint as a lot of effort had gone into the set up and within the hour Jim Tomlinson secured first place with six rainbows for 16lbs taken on a Yellow Fritz.

Second was veteran angler Andy McKissock with five rainbows for 10lbs 11oz on a Green Fritz and the same again lost, Tom Collins two rainbow for 5lbs 3oz on a Green Fritz, must have been a fire sale on these lures, Jock Patterson one rainbow which proved the heaviest fish for 3lbs 5oz on a Partridge.

The next major competition is the John Baillie Memorial Trophy on Sunday, July 3. A better attendance would be appreciated.

BROOMHILL FISHERY (Patna/Rankinston (B730): Ponds fishing quite well despite weather conditions.
