COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): Good week’s fishing despite the windy weather earlier. Ten fishermen from Rubber Ear Club in Wishaw held their own competition on the fly pond, winner being John McConville jnr with four fish weighing 9.9lb.
Second was Greg Ritchie with three fish weighing 8½lbs. Third was Brian Anderson with two fish weighing in at 6½.
Also visiting was Victory Angling Club from Girvan. On the bait pond, a stocking of slightly lighter fish caused a little controversy but everyone was happy in the end.

Fly pond: Mr Steel from Glasgow, two for 3.6lb on bloodworms, Mr Baird from Glasgow chapped one for 2½ and released six on dries, Mr McKay from Glasgow chapped one for 2.75lb and released four on Owls, Ian Muncie from Dreghorn on two visits released 13 on Talbot and Nymphs.
Olaf, from Dreghorn, released two on Fritz, M. Denton from Ayr released four on CDCs, B. McCrone from Prestwick released five on Buzzards, I. Laurie from Coylton released three on Buzzards, I. Rankin from Ayr released three on CDCs, Tam Jarvie from Drongan released eight on Buzzards and A. Cooper released two on the same.
Bait pond: N. McGinn from Drongan chapped four for 7½lb.

RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): Highlight of the week was the first leg of the club’s open competition on Sunday which, despite the deplorable weather, was well attended.
A total of 44 fish were returned with the outright winner Neil McGinn with five rainbows for 11lbs 6oz. Second was David Miller with four for 10lbs 11oz on the Cat’s Whisker. Third was Bill Douglas with four on power bait for 8lbs 8oz.
Although thought not in the silverware, participating was the name of the game, and among some of the participants were Jim Phillips three on the Red and Silver Mepp for 7lbs 8oz, John Balfour three on power bait for 7lbs 8oz, Allan Carruthers three for 6lbs 10oz on the Mepp, Ross Sargent three for 6lbs 6oz on the Mepp, Stevie Ross two for 5lbs 4oz, 85-year-old Joe Smalcic two for 4lbs 14oz on the Mepp while 13-year-old Andrew Anderson was wishing he could have added his 3lbs 9oz Rainbow from last week to his tally of two for 4lbs 11oz on power bait.
The next competition is the fly fishing event on Wednesday, June 8 from 6pm until 10pm. As usual, a lot of effort is put into these events, so a good attendance would be appreciated.

SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): fly pond fishing well. Tap Barr from Clydebank visited with everyone getting their three fish limit. Heaviest catch went to G. Laing with three fish for 7lb 6oz. Fly pond still totally weed free.
Bait pond: best catch was Mr Allerdyce from Airdrie with four fish for 9lb 2oz.
Springwater is holding a bait competition on Sunday, June 26, cost £20 for five fish plus lunch. Tackle prizes for top senior and junior, plus every junior gets a prize. Pre-booking essential to 01292 560343.
Coarse pond, the D&T Secuirity summer league match was fishing very hard due to very high winds. Winner on the day was Davie Mitchell.
Springwater coarse angling club had an outing at Woodlands lakes at Thirsk. Winner on first day was Craig Cameron with 95lb, his heaviest fish was a carp of 14lb. Winner on day two was Tommy Mitchell with 130lb.
BROOMHILL FISHERY (Patna/Rankinston B730): Weather conditions terrible for the time of year but hopefully will start to improve.
Fly pond: turning point had another good day. Tom Wilson two c/r, Budgie 10 c/r, Davie Hamilton two kept 5lb 5oz, Geordie Kerr four c/r, Danny Szulc six c/r, G. Kerr four c/r, Ally 16 c/r, Robbie Kerr six c/r, Danny Szulc four c/r. Various flies crunchers, Kate McLaren.
Bait pond : fishing well power bait and worm favoured.
BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): The fishery is holding an open fly and an oen bait competition with barbecue on Saturday, June 4 from 5pm until 10pm.
Entry is £20 with a four fish limit and includes barbecue, trophies for first three in both competitions. £5 if not fishing and want to have barbecue. Bookings to 07527 405715.
