SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): fishery been quiet again due to high winds. For those who braved it, plenty of fish were caught on drys during the day. Fish went back down again in the evening due to it getting very cold.

Springwater is holding a bait competition on Sunday, June 26, cost £20 for five fish plus lunch. Tackle prizes for top senior and junior plus every junior gets a prize. Pre-booking essential to 01292 560343.

BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the fishery is holding an open fly and an open bait competition with barbecue on Saturday, June 4 from 5pm to 10pm.

Cost is £20 with four fish limit, trophies for first three in both competitions, £5 for barbecue only. Bookings to 07527 405715.

The GoodYear club visited the fishery with 11 anglers catching 40 fish between them. First was Colin with four for 8lb 10oz, second was Walter with four for 8lb 7oz while third was Jimmy with four for 8lb 6oz.

RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): a productive week on various methods for those trying their luck.

Returns: resident angler M. Spence eight fish, Kevin Hiddleston four on The Mepp, J. Lothian three, D. Kelly two, Lewis Kerr two on power bait, Tony Armstrong one on a Black and Green Fritz, J. Currie one and John Gibson one.

Saturday, although not well attended by members, started with lovely weather but finished with rain abandoning play, not before early bird Jim Phillips has three rainbows for 7lbs 7oz on a Red and Silver Mepp, Joe Smalcic three on a Fire Tiger Mepp, Robert Scott three on power bait, John Coughtrie three on power bait and Alistair Dunlop two rainbows on a Blue and Silver Toby.

Tarbolton Field Sports Association members enjoyed their annual outing. First was George McPike with two rainbows for 4lbs 11oz, second was T. Jackson with one rainbow for 2lbs 11ozs on a Rapala while third was Jim Gilliespie one rainbow for 2lbs 2oz. Jim’s excuse was manning the barbecue, and a good job he did.

This Sunday is the first leg of the club’s open competition with a good attendance appreciated.
