BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): the fishery is holding an open fly competition on Sunday, May 1 from 8am to 4pm, four fish limit and heaviest bag wins.

The fishery was visited by Victory Bar AC from Girvan who caught 14 fish.
Fly pond: The Rev from Irvine eight fish for 17lb 14oz, T Kennedy four for 9lb 2oz, Ian Skilling three for 6lb 8oz, H Diamond two for 5lb, T McFarlane two for 4lb 12oz, J Barr two for 3lb 8oz, J McMillan one for 2lb 8oz.

RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): the club’s annual open day on Sunday was a great event with nice weather and 74 fish caught.
The annual open is a family affair with non members, adults and children all made welcome. Big prize money, tagged fish, raffle, free barbecue, coffee and tea enticed a big attendance and nobody went home disappointed.
Kevin Hiddleston clinched first prize of £60 with six fish for 14lbs 10oz on a Silver Mepp, Alex McNeil and grandson Liam McNeil halved the £40 for the heaviest fish, both having £3.04oz, runner-up Tom Collins five fish for 11lbs 15oz on a Green Fritz.
There were no tagged fish returned which means that if you catch one, keep the tag as the club will still honour the prize money.
Some other returns: 85-year-old Joe Smalcic four fish for 7lbs spinning, Bill Douglas four for 4lbs 10oz on power bait, Hendry McConnell four for 7lbs 12oz on a Cat’s Whisker, junior Luke Carruthers four for 10lbs 04oz, Jim McGuffie three for 5lbs 14oz on power bait, Jim Tomlinson three for 6lbs 2oz on a Black Fritz, nine-year-old Annie O’Hara two for 5lbs 03oz, ‘I am legend’ Shalako three for 6lbs 6oz.
The club thank Brown brothers of Prestwick, all who donated to the marvellous raffle and Grace who steadfastly stood by the barbecue all day feeding the masses.

SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): fly loch fishing is going well with top catch from Greg Dunlop of Ayr who released 15. Best fly was an Orange blob. Henry Hamilton had four fish for 10lbs 1oz on wet flies.
Bait pond: Corrie and Shane Wilson, age seven and 11, had five fish for 11lbs 12oz. The Cairns family had six for 14lbs 5oz. Best was green power bait.
On Sunday, the coarse pond has the grab a grand qualifier, sponsored by D&T Security. The loch will be closed until 5pm.
BROOMHILL FISHERY (Patna/Rankinston):
On Saturday, ladies internationalist Gail Annal and husband Jim visited Broomhill. Gail released 15, Jim released 10 on buzzers.
Archie Thom 7c/r, Sisco 12 c/r (two visits) Charlie Davidson five kept 11lbs 6oz, Kevin Smith 6c/r, Darren Russell 3 c/r, Gordon Scott 6 c/r, Danny Szulc 10 c/r, Ian McLeod 4 c/r, Chris Wells 2 c/r, Sean Black 2 c/r, Barry Black 1 c/r, Jamie Chapman 18 c/r. Dries are doing well in the evening.
Monday evening competition resumes on May 2 starting 6pm prompt. Bait pond fishing well young Callum Howe age three caught his first fish with his new rod.
Cailean Mclellan two kept 3lb 13oz, Angus Mclellan one kept 1lb 11oz, Garry Hamil two kept 3lb 2oz. Worms and power bait are favoured.
DALVENNAN FISHERY:Pond didn't seem to fish as well in the bright sunlight, but it fished better in the evening sessions with some nice brown trout being caught and returned.
