WHAT a weekend of volleyball for Troon women.
The current Scottish Cup and Top Team Cup holders could have held all three major titles at once had they won their two matches against City of Edinburgh in the Scottish League Championship play-off final.
But they face a third and deciding play-off match this Saturday in Edinburgh to make that dream come true with scores tied at1-1. On Saturday, Troon crashed 25-16,25-18, 25-11 in the first leg in Edinburgh.
Despite ringing personnel changes across the three sets, Troon could not find a winning formula. But it was a different story in Sunday’s second leg at Belmont Academy. Troon raced out of the blocks, passing well through Bunten, Jenny Krawczyk and Gillian Lyall and hitting winners from all parts of the court through Bunten, Gow, Robertson, Clayton and Wheatley from Elaine Krawczyk's setting.
A handful of points dropped from service errors kept Edinburgh in the first set before Troon edged it 25-23.
Edinburgh took the second set 25-5 but Troon's full bench was run during this set and they regrouped for the start of the third and they won 25-18 for a 2-1 lead.
It was more of the same high quality in the fourth set which Troon won 25-21 and with it the match.
Squad: Ellis, McCall, J. Jones, Grant, Wheatley, Robertson, Lyall, Ramage, Bunten, Pell, Clayton, J and E Krawczyk.
