Ayr and Prestwick cricket clubs open the new season

A NEW season at Ayr Cricket Club begins this weekend with friendlies against Drumpellier on Saturday and Uddingston on Sunday.

The 1st XI will again be captained by Mark Renny and welcome back Michael Papps for another season as professional. Papps will be joined by fellow Kiwi, Andrew Scott from Auckland, as overseas amateur.

Ayr will compete in the new 16 team Premier League which opens in two weeks while the 2nd XI begin their campaign next week. This Friday sees the juniors begin their season at 6.30pm. All welcome.

PRESTWICK, who are being backed by MGM Timber for the third year, head to West of Scotland in a friendly on Saturday. Match is sponsored by Frankie and Benny’s.

On Sunday, Prestwick host Kelburne in a match sponsored by Click Networks Ltd.
