Angling roundup: February 4

COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): The fishing has been on and off due to the frost but milder weather is forecast from now on.

Despite the weather setback, the past week has been successful for customers both with fishing and with the new coffee shop. The new catch and release ticket at £6 for all day is obviously proving popular.

Results for the week have been W. Todd from Irvine releasing six on a black damsel, Billy McGarland releasing six on dry flies, Ryan Cuthbert and Jason Scobbie both releasing four a piece on black and green fritz and yellow dancers.

Bait pond fishing well with three visits last week from the lads from 'Spark of Genius' and mostly all bagging up with good fish. Hopefully a settled spell of weather will encourage more rods out and about.

BURNS TROUT FISHERY (Tarbolton): Some of the catches last week were: fly pond: Tam Boyle, four for 8lb, A McKie, two for 4lb 1oz; B McConnechie, one for 2lb; S Brennan, two for 3lb 9oz; T Kirkwood, two for 3lb 14oz; L Carr, one for 2lb 4oz; I Skilling, three for 6lb.

Bait pond: J Paterson, two for 4lb 2oz; Kim Dunnachie, four for 7lb 10oz; D Mason, two for 3lb 10oz; W McGarrie, two for 3lb 6oz; L Miller, 4 for 8lb; D Black, two for 4lb 1oz; Matt Ferguson, two for 4lb 3oz; J Thomas, two for 3lb 14oz; W Wells, one for 2lb 2oz; W Griffiths, four for 7lb 13oz; Mr Paterson, four for 8lb; D Kirkwood, three for 5lb 7oz; D Taylor, two for 4lb.
