Project mayhem raises £8000 for charity

MORE than £8,000 was raised for charity when Project Mayhem packed the Citadel.

Crowds lapped up 16 fights of Muay Thai, MMA and charity boxing.

Ayr man John Fisher, who works as a chef in Lochgilphead, raised more than £900 for MS.

In the card’s only MMA bout, Prestwick’s Andy Connell beat Ewan Currie in a thrilling fight which had everyone on their feet.

Promoters Alan Currie and Andy Wilson thanks everyone who supported the show.

Alan added: “A special thanks goes to the snow for going away. As we had booked the show, the Citadel, officials, posters, ring and many other items and had promoted the event locally for three months, we were fully committed.

“As the final preps were being done we were watching the snow fall during the week and quite literally crossing all our fingers and toes”

The show was stolen by a spoof bout between Ally 'The Champ' Smith against Justin 'Stavros Fatley'.

Ally was looking mean and ready but after a superb dancing display by Justin' (tribute spoof act to Stavros Flatley') and the use of two foot by one foot huge boxing gloves, Ally was no match for 'Stavros' and was jokingly ko’d after a bit of fancy footwork.

DVDs are being produced free by TWF Productions. Promoters Alan and Andy will send copies to all who took part. They will then sell the DVDs of Project Mayhem for £10 and donate the DVD money they raise to their own charities they are raising funds for. DVDs will be ready in two weeks.

Alan and Andy are now planning their next Project Mayhem for June. Register at Wossobama Gym from January onwards.
