Angling reports: October 29

SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): fly pond is fishing steadily. One angler, who was staying in the lodges, fished into darkness and released 15 fish all caught on dries.

Stewart Clark, from Prestwick, released seven on an orange and green lure. Some good fish were caught this week, the biggest at just over 6lbs.

Bait pond fishing better. Best catch was Ian Johnston’s four fish for 8lbs. Tigger and crew from Irvine got five fish between them. Best bait was worm.

Coarse pond was very quiet but those who fished got plenty of skimmers and the odd carp.

Springwater will soon be holding a bait competition. Details to follow.

RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): as usual, it was the retirees who were able to take advantage of the tremendous week’s autumn weather.

M. Spence eight fish on a combo of power bait and the worm, John Lothian seven fish on power bait, Jock Patterson three on the running worm, Andy Faicaney one the running worm, obviously not watching pal Jock’s presentation, J. Currie three fish on power bait as did J. McIlroy, young Kane Lamont also had three on spring green power bait, Curdy Hay and John Anderson two each on the floating worm, G. Lewis one on the worm! Should have listened to his peers. In the fly department, Gary Smith one rainbow on a black and red dancer.

Trophies need to be returned as soon as possible to Pets Aquarium, Main Street, Prestwick so they are ready for the prizegiving on Friday, November 12.
