KIlmarnock Barassie are Ayrshire summer league champions

KILMARNOCK (Barassie) are Ayrshire Summer League champions for the first time after a thrilling second leg win over Irvine (Bogside) in the final.

They triumphed 3½-2½ over their own links on Sunday for a6½-5½ aggregate.

Second leg details (Barassie names first): Stuart Miller beat Gareth Lamb 4&3; Jamie Mackay beat John Shanks 5&4; Euan Walker lost to Alan Connery 4&3; Andrew Wright lost to Colin Gray 4&2; Euan Brown halved with Stephen Spence; David Miller beat Gordon Dunlop 5&4.

lMAYBOLE duo David Wallace and Scott McCahill won the Ayrshire Fourball Championship at Kilmarnock (Barassie), beating the North Beach pair of Johnny O'Neill and Gary Ross 3&2.

It was third time lucky as they had lost in their two previous appearances in the last four years.

lBOTH the Ayrshire ‘A’ and youths teams lost 4½-5½ to Lanarkshire in the third of the five match West of Scotland Inter County series on Sunday.

The ‘A’ team came out tops at Irvine Ravenspark. The youths match, played at Drumpellier, was a tight affair with six of the ten ties being decided on the final green.

This Sunday, Ayrshire face Dumbartonshire, the ‘A’ team at Hayston, the youths at Troon Darley.

Confusion reigns after Ayrshire's opening two matches in the West of Scotland Inter County Leagues.

Distance measuring devices were used - against league rules - in both the Ayrshire 'A' and youth match against Glasgow at Brunston Castle. Now both results are up in the air until clarification is sought.
