Bait pond picking up. Ian Hillis five fish for 9lb 3oz, Jim Campbell four for 8lb while young Drew Allerdyce had biggest of the week weighing in at 3lbs 14oz. Best bait is worm and spinning.
Coarse pond still fishing well. Some good carp and plenty of small carp, skimmers plus roach being caught. Best bait is pellet and brown bread.
RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): The week’s erratic weather didn’t seem to have as much influence in results as did attendance.
John Lothian four fish on power bait, Stevie Ross three on power bait for 7lbs, Jock Patterson and Andy Faicaney three each on running worm, Jim Craig three for 7lbs, G. Lewis two on the worm and one on power bait, Tom Drummond three, T. Wilson three on power bait. The latter in all their excitement forgot the method used and weights!
Tony Armstrong had two on the cat’s whisker, D. Kelly and J. McIlroy also had two each but they also forgot methods and weights.
The weekend was much the same with Saturday being best described as a crisp winter’s day with flat calm, not exactly ideal conditions. John Anderson re-wrote the manual by having wound up everything in 40 minutes with four for 9½lbs on the floating worm. He then invited Alex McNeil into the same spot and acted as unpaid gillie for Alex’s bag of two on the floating worm and two on power bait for 8½lbs.
He did the same for John Miller four for 8½lbs on power bait and brother-in-law Andy (Murray) Wilson who had four on the floating worm for 8lbs. Totally uninvited, Tom Collins also had four in the same spot with a Buzzer, Further up the same banking father and son team David and Kane Lamont had five between them on Spring Green power bait.
Sunday saw the same conditions but was almost unattended. Alex McNeil had four on power bait for 8lbs, D. McCall four, McGinn had a nice blue on power bait. This Sunday is the last competition of the season, the founder members from 8am until 4pm.
