RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): Sunday’s over 60s and junior competition went well despite the cold wind. The clear winner was Jim Tomlinson with three blue and three rainbows for 14lbs 9oz on an orange and black fritz.
Second was Tom Collins who only ‘fishes the fly’ with six fish for 13lbs 5ozs on power bait? Andy Murray also had six for 11lbs 14oz on the floating worm, Derrick Caldwell had five for 11lbs 7oz on power bait.
In the juniors, first was Conner Reilly with three fish for 6lbs 13oz spinning. Second was Liam McNeil with two for 3lbs 8oz on power bait. Conner received a fly rod and reel for his heaviest fish at 2lbs 10oz, Liam got a spinning rod and reel for his bag while Darren Nimmo received a spinning rod and reel for the third heaviest bag.
The club thank Syd James for sponsoring the junior competition. It was a good day, everyone had fish and the free barbeque was well received.
Interestingly, the word on the street is Pinky caught a 7lbs bar of silver dalmon on Wednesday with the aid of his personal ghillie Lorraine. Unfortunately, in all his excitement, he didn’t quite manage to record his catch or method taken.

SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): Fly pond fishing better now the water is cooling down. Catches included Colin eight fish and Ian Crossan five. Best flies spiders, hoppers and fry patterns.

Bait pond picking up, Ian Smith four fish for 7lb 4oz, best bait worm. Coarse pond still fishing well with some good carp along with plenty small carp, skimmers, roach and rudd. Best bait is pellet.
BURNS TROUT FISHERY (near Tarbolton): The Provincial Grand Lodge held their inter lodge competition between Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway. At the weigh-in, 70 fish were caught in total. Winners were Galloway with 26 fish for 44lb 14oz, second were Dumfries with 20 for 40lb, third went to Ayrshire with 24 for 36lb 8oz.
Individual prizes: 1. A Dorrian with five fish for 8lb 12oz; 2. J Hodge five for 8lb 9oz; 3. J Brown five for 8lb 8oz. Heaviest fish of 3lb 9oz went to A Ross.

BROOMHILL FISHERY (Rankinston/Patna B730): Weather quite good all week. On Sunday, the ‘Lame Ducks’' enjoyed a good day’s fishing having travelled from Fife. They held an in club competition and the winner was Tom Ward with four fish for 8lb 7oz, second was J Hood with four for 6lb 11oz while third was Eck Hunter with two for 4lb 4oz.
Bait pond: T Parker four fish at 8lb 3oz and M McArtney two at 3lb. Power bait, maggots and worms are achieving good results.
