RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): A quiet week mostly attended by pensioners. M. Spence seven on power bait, John Lothian five on power bait.

Members who took just two each were T. Wilson on power bait, Jim Craig for 4½lbs, Jock Patterson on the running worm, G. Lewis on power bait and junior member Ross Seringeour from Reservoir Cottage.

Others content with one each were T. Collins on power bait, Tony Armstrong on power bait, Bradley a 3lbs 2oz rainbow, and D. Millar one on an Ace of Spades.

The club thank the Tuesday evening work party on the River Girvan for a job well done especially Alex McNeil who has to walk with the aid of a stick. Ronnie Douglas also thanks them as he had a nice bag of wild brown trout on Saturday in the small run after Friday’s rain.

This Sunday is the over 60s and junior competition from 8am until 4pm. A good attendance would be appreciated especially from the junior members as a fair bit of effort is put into the sponsorship and organising these events.

Ticket outlets: Gamesport of Ayr, Newalls newsagents of Monkton, Pets Aquarium of Prestwick, Torbets of Kilmarnock and Wee Jimmy’s of Bank Street, Irvine.

SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): Fly pond fishing better. Ian Crossan released seven, Davie McKee five, Ian Skilling four for 8lbs. Best flies are hoppers, hairs lugs and cormorants.

Bait pond fishing a bit better. Best catches coming to slow retrieved worms, best catch from Tam Black with five fish for 9lbs 14oz.

Coarse pond is still fishing well. Skimmers, roach and small carp still getting caught. Best bait pellet.

COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): A steady week with a lot of bags being filled. With summer all but over, drop in temperature and more overcast there are not so many fish rising so change of tactics is required.

Catches: D. Stevenson two for 5.7lb, J. Fleming two for 4.8lb, K. Syme six for 11.8lb, J. Elliott (age nine) two for 4.2lb, B. Bill two for 5.12lb, M. McNaughton one for 2.8lb, K. Roberts (age five) three for 5.12lb, D. Sloan two for 4.6lb, C. Donigan two for 4.6lb, D. Cairns five for 9.8lb.

Catch and release: T. Jarvie released eight, D. Stevenson three, I. Muncie eight, R. McIlwraith six, B. Oliver four, M. Black three, C. Campbell two, J. Marshall seven, K. Findlay three, S. Brown four.

Powerbait probably working best but worms and maggots are starting to catch a lot more since the weather change.

On the fly, small black CDCs and Nymphs have been working best but the bigger flies are starting to work more now that fish aren't coming to the surface as much.
