SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): Fly pond fishing well. One angler released 11 on a black blob, Ian crossan released nine on the Maybole mauler. Plenty of other good catches with everyone still getting some good evening sport.
Bait pond best catch was Scott Walker with five fish for 9lbs 15oz. Bes bait was power bait on the bottom.
Coarse pond still fishing well, catching plenty of silver fish and carp. Best bait pellet and corn.
BURNS TROUT FISHERY (near Tarbolton): The fishery is holding an open pairs competition (fly or bait) on Sunday, September 12 from 8am until 4pm, £30 per pair, four fish limit each, heaviest team bag wins, Bookings to 07527 405715.
The Provincial Grand Lodge of Ayrshire visited and held a pairs competition with a total of 89 fish caught. First Bill Boe (290) and Eddie Dunlop (290) with 10 fish for 18lbs, second Sandy Gilmour (1060) and Stewart Hamilton (126) with 10 fish for 17lb 6oz, third Joe Savage (0) and Campbell McKellar (0) with 10 fish for 16lb 14oz. Heaviest fish for 3lb 15oz went to John Brown.
Catches: fly pond: S Brennan five for 12lb 8oz, T Atkinson four for 7lb 8oz, The Rev from Irvine four for 7lb 8oz, G Gotch snr two for 4lb 6oz, Jim Strain one for 4lb 10oz.
Bait pond: Kari Dunlop (wee Boab) two for 5lb 12oz, S Baird eight for 17lb (one at 4lb), T Quinn four for 7lb 12oz, D Lewis two for 4lb, B Fulves four for 7lb 8oz, A Steele two for 3lb 14oz, I Gilmour two for 4lb 2oz, D Scobie two for 4lb 6oz.
RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): After the brilliant weekend’s fishing, last Monday was to prove still as productive for the pensioners.
G. Lewis three on power bait and one the worm, Scunner Campbell four on the maggot, W. McIntosh three, Jim Craig three for 5½, Jim Bradley three for 4lbs 3oz, M. Spence and John Lothian two each and Tony Armstrong one on the worm.
The rest of the week’s nice weather provided good results and some bags were: T. Wilson eight on power bait, M. Spence and John Lothian, having second thoughts, managed another seven between them. Father and son Jim and Gary Craig had seven for 15lbs 11oz, Stevie Ross two, Pinky and Lorraine a rainbow each on power bait and both 1½lbs, junior member Ross Seringeour from Reservoir Cottage one rainbow.
The second leg of the open competition on Sunday encountered a bitter east wind which influenced the results.
First was Andy McKissock with six fish for 10lbs 1oz on a Cats Whisker down in the bottom bay. Second was Tom Collins with four for 7lbs 8oz.
The heaviest fish went to Jim Tomlinson, one at 2lbs 14oz which fell to a Green Buzzer. All in all it was hard day that finished with 32 fish returned and an event enjoyed by all.
The next competition is the over 60s on Sunday, September 19 from 8am to 4pm. A good attendance would be appreciated.
BROOMHILL FISHERY (Rankinston/Patna B730): Despite warm bright conditions during the week, fly pond producing some good catches.
