BURNS TROUT FISHERY (near Tarbolton): Winner of the Mima Harvey open fly competition, sponsored by Gamesport of Ayr, was T Muir with four fish for 9lb 6oz.
Second was Allan Taylor with four fish for 8lb 14oz while third was Robert McFarlane with fourfor 8lb 10oz. Heaviest fish caught was 3lb 5oz by Darren Halliday.
Winner of the Burns Trout Fishery open bait competition, sponsored by Crockets Outdoor and Equestrian of Ayr, was Gordon McMillan with four fish for 8lb 5oz.
Second was Mark Harden with four for 7lb 11oz while third was Billy Simpson with four for 7lb. A total of 70 fish were caught.

RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): A week that provided nice weather also provided good fishing all be it not a lot are taking full advantage.
Junior members Lewis Kerr had six fish on power bait; pal John Gibson had five, Alex McNeil four on power bait, Jock Patterson four on the running worm, representing the ladies Lorraine four for 9lbs 02oz on power bait.
Well done, and well done for recording the weight and method, ‘I am Legend’ may need to keep his eye on the ball as the bag also counts in the Central Bar sweepstakes.
Bob Younger four on power bait for 8lbs 14oz, D. Miller three on the fly, just forgot what fly and weight, T. Collins two on power bait for 4lbs 8oz, S. Martin, William Gibson and Pinky were all quite happy with one each on power bait.
All the preparations are well under control for the John Baillie Memorial competition that has been re-scheduled for Sunday (August 15) from 8am until 4pm. The only thing required is a good attendance.
The club thank those who managed the two work parties on Tuesday evening 3rd and Tuesday evening 10th, especially junior member John Gibson and Lewis Kerr for setting an example for their peers that didn’t quite manage.

SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): Fly pond fishing better. Ian Crossan released eight, Colin Walker six. Capper released a nice fish of around 6lbs. Best flies drys and nymphs, still great evening rises.
Bait pond best catch goes to Mr Black with four fish for 8lb 15 oz. Power bait on the bottom worked best.
Coarse pond continues to fish well. Plenty of roach and rudd with some carp being caught best bait pellet and corn.
On Saturday, there is a free coaching session on the coarse pond with local Scottish internationalist Ewan Weed. Daiwa will have a range of poles for anglers to try. Start time is 2pm.
BROOMHILL FISHERY (Rankinston/Patna B730): Fishing steady on fly and bait ponds. Fly pond: dry fly and nymphs are proving effective, Norman Kettlewell six c/r, wee Joe six c/r, Dougie Edmonds 13 c/r, Brian Brown four c/r, J .McGuire eight c/r, R Thomson five c/r, D.Lawes 11 c/r, Ian Thomson six c/r, M. Clark nine c/r, R. McIntyre four c/r, Jim Laurie 13 c/r, Tiny three c/r, Archie Thom six c/r, Dougie Edmonds seven c/r, Rab Dunsmuir four c/r, Jim Laurie five c/r, wee Joe two c/r, Budgie five c/r, Kenny Barry four c/r, Steven Gracie three c/r, Frank Edgar two c/r.
Bait pond: maggots and power bait are proving most popular, Hugh and Jim Lees three fish 6lbs 4oz, Garry one 2lb 7oz, Robbie and grandpa three 5lb 10oz, Ian Bannon two 4lb 3oz, S.Robbins five 10lb 4oz, T.Campbell four 9lb 6 oz, R.McKnight and son two 3lb 12 oz, Cailean McLellan (first time) two 4lb 3oz.
COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): A steady week with plenty of fish being caught both on bait and fly. We have been working hard to keep on top of the weed and will have it all cut by Wednesday.
Catches: J. Cromby two for 3.8lb, D. Vance one for 1.14lb, D. Gallacher five for 9.9lb, B. Fernon five for 9.5lb, A. Jackson two for 3.14lb, R. Hose five for 9.9lb, C. Cunningham two for 4.1lb, A. Sloan one for 2lb, D. Johnston four for 7lb.
Catch and release: T. Jarvey released four, Kyle three, R. McIlwraith eight, Stew six, B. Marriott three, T. Anderson three, B. Oliver five, J. Hamilton three, D. Wilson three, A. Campbell two.
On the bait, live bait fished at various depths has been working better this week but more often than not fished on the bottom seems to be most effective.
On the fly, damsels have been responsible for most of the catches this week. With the weed cut to a decent level the fish are coming to the surface a lot more now making fishing on dries great fun.
