On the bait pond, good worms and maggots are now producing better results. Powerbait still has some effect but live bait has bagged more fish this week than any other this year. We now also have a small stock of live bait for sale.
On the fly pond, so many things have been working it's hard to say what is most effective. Small cdc's, buzzers and nymphs probably accounted for more catches this week, small lures and damsel nymphs have had some success. Overall fishing fairly deep with buzzers and nymphs are the clear winner this week.
The bait pond has been stocked ready for the week ahead and we are now re-introducing a weekly stocking policy for both ponds.
RAITH RESERVOIR (Prestwick): although not well attended this week, the water never let anybody down. Jock Patterson has no reason for complaints with eleven fish on the running worm.
Tony Armstrong has given up on his short conversion to the worm and is back in business with old faithful (the Black Fritz) and doing well. Bill Gibson and Tam Patterson managed seven between them on Power Bait. Here he is again this week ‘J’ four fish? Pinky had two nice fish for 3½lbs on Power Bait.
The nice weather enticed Lorraine out for the first time and she landed one and lost one, then off to Tenerife for even nicer weather. Representing the juniors, G. Lewis had four fish on Power Bait.
Preparations for the club’s open day on Sunday are well underway. It runs from 9am until 4pm with prizes, free barbeque and soft drinks. Alll welcome. Raffle donations welcome on the day.
