Cricket: Ayr welcome a trio of new faces

AYR Cricket Club will have three new faces and a returning pro for the new season.

The Cambusdoon men gear up with home friendlies against Glasgow Accies on Saturday and West on Sunday.

New men are swing bowler Sada Pali, an Indian dentist from Hereford, all rounder Alan Davidson from Dumfries and Kiwi youngster Daniel Fleming.

And former New Zealand Test player Michael Papps is due back on April 27 for a second season as pro.

Spokesman Andy Baird said: “We are determined to get out of the First Division at the first time of asking and reclaim our place in the Premier League.”

The juniors hold their first session at Cambusdoon on Friday at 6.30pm.

PRESTWICK have made an eleventh hour bid to sign a pro after being relegated from the national leagues intoDivision One of the Western Union.

An offer was made on Monday to an experienced Pakistani player who has played at four Scottish clubs.

Moving from Ayr are Alan McCrossin and former Oval players Fraser Macdonald and Shazad Rafiq.

All three will feature when Prestwick open with a home friendly against East Kilbride on Saturday.

The junior AGM and enrolment is on Friday at 7.30pm.
