RISING ice hockey star Sam Clelland is off to Latvia on Friday to play for Scotland under 13s in a European tournament.
The Volvo sponsored competition is being held in the capital city of Riga and is Europe's largest youth ice hockey tournament.
Teams from Finland, Germany, Slovakia, Sweden, Scotland and Latvia are all participating in this age group.
Sam, a first year pupil at Belmont Academy, has been playing hockey for the past seven years and has previously played for Scotland at under 11 level.
The national teams also take on the English and Welsh area teams in the annual conference tournament in Hull in May when Sam will again be part of the squad.
Sam has been playing for the North Ayrshire Club at the Magnum since 2004 and is currently a member of the Stars Under 14 team.
