SPRINGWATER FISHERY (Dalrymple): fly pond still fishing well. Jim Tomlinson from Prestwick released 12 fish on an evening session. Fish still coming to dry flies, buzzers and nymphs fishing well.

Bait pond fished well at weekend. Best catch was by John Allardyce from Airdrie with five fish for 12lb 3oz caught on the bottom with green power bait.

COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): September has been one of the best months yet for the catch and release with anglers regularly getting bags of 20s.

Mr Gregory released 11 with a black nymph, Mr Baillie nine, Mick 26 on the orange okey dokey, Jim Tomlinson nine. The killer flies have been cdc, green machine, diawl bach and as ever the infamous blob. As of October, the new catch and release ticket is £8 for four hours.

The bait pond has been fishing well with Mr Steele hitting four fish for 9lbs, Mr Callan got his limit of three for 6½ lbs, Mr Wallace having two for 3½ lbs. Young Katie McDowell got her five fish for 11½ lbs. Power bait, worms and maggots seem to be the killers.

PRESTWICK (Raith Reservoir): despite the terrible weather on bank holiday Monday, the week started and finished well with some great returns. Among them was star man Jock Patterson with 16 fish on the humble worm.

Other catches: Murray Spence 12, Andy Faichney eight on the worm, John Lothian six, Tony Armstrong five, W. Parker four, A. Wilson (day ticket) four, John Anderson four, J. Craig four, Neil McGinn four rainbow on the worm. In the junior stakes, Michael Hendren and G. Lewis four fish each. Lorraine’s two fish for 5lbs on power bait secured her the Central Bar sweepstake. Even ‘I am legend’ Shalako has conceded defeat.

The last chance for some of the Alpha males to restore their shattered reputations will be the Founder Members Cup on Sunday, October 4 from 8am until 4pm.
