Swimming: Wellington's golden wonders
WELLINGTON girls’ relay team of Sophie Kirk, Wallis Wyllie, Verity Macdonald and Lucy Illingworth won gold medals and the Codona Cup at the Ayr and Prestwick Burgh Swimming Gala.
This win was the first since 1989 when Wellington had won the cup for the fourteenth time in succession.
Wellington (48 points) finished third overall behind Alloway Primary (53 points) and Doonfoot Primary (57 points).
The other medal winners for Wellington were: gold: Adam White, P5, boys backstroke; Marshall Illingworth, P5, boys breaststroke; Wallis Wyllie, P6, girls breaststroke; Lucy Illingworth, P7, girls breaststroke.
Silver: Adam White, P5, boys front crawl; Verity Macdonald, P7, girls front crawl; Lucy Illingworth, open girls butterfly. Bronze: Rowan Sweeney, P5, girls front crawl; Marshall Illingworth, open boys butterfly.
