PONY power has won a first Scottish cap call for teenager Claire Sharp.
The 14-year-old Belmont Academy pupil has been named in the Scottish showjumping team for the Irish Home Pony International in Cavan.
It’s the culmination of a rich run of form for Claire who qualified to take three ponies to the Royal Highland Show and took part in the Horse of the Year qualifiers at Grantham.
She won her open class at the Newmilns Agricultural Show, has also made the prestigious Scope show in August and qualified for the Blue Chip in April.
Claire, who has been a member for two years of the British Showjumping Association, is trained by Stacey Babes and has been horse riding since she was only five.
Proud mum Jennifer said: “Claire spends a minimum of 20 hours a week working and training with ponies. She has had her own pony for six years.”
Claire would appreciate any sponsorship help as costs rise. If you can help, call Jennifer on 077256 70878.
