Tennis: Carrick serve up a four show

AYR Carrick Lawn Tennis Club teams enjoyed success in all four of their league matches.

In the First Division, the ladies 1 beat Largs 1 away by 7-2. A. Kilpatrick and M. Sinclair won 3-0, K. Hunter and E. Millar won 3-0, A. Golightly and A. Knox lost 2-1.

In the ladies Third Division, Carrick ladies 2 won away at Largs 2 by 6-3. M. Gilchrist and A. Macfarlane lost 2-1, W. Bulloch and A. Leitch won 2-1, M. McNeil and J. Parker won 3-0. The ladies 2 also beat PA&S 4 at home by 7-2. M. Gilchrist and A. Macfarlane won 3-0, W. Bulloch and A. Leitch won 3-0, M. McNeil and J. Parker lost 2-1.

In the gents Second Division, Carrick beat Coylton 1 away by 5-4. D. Banks and G. Leitch won 2-1, D. Balmer and P. Davie lost 2-1, R. Christie and J. Shepherd won 2-1.

Ayr LTC gents firsts had two excellent victories in a week.

On Tuesday, they won 9-0 away to Largs 1. Pairings for Ayr were: A. Paul & G. MacDonald; J. Woodall & Paul Gallagher; T. McGuigan & S. Murdoch.

Then on Thursday they beat Troon 1 by 9-0. Pairings: T. McGuigan & Paul Gallagher; J. Woodall & G. MacDonald; A. Paul & E. McCorkindale.

Ayr gents 2 drew their match with Prestwick & Symington 2, although winning 5-4 on sets, they went down 2-1 on rubbers. Therefore the match is declared a draw.

Pairings: S. Murdoch & F. Tait; G. McKenzie & B. Young (third match conceded by Prestwick & Symington).

Ayr ladies 1 lost away to Prestwick & Symington 3 by 6-3. Pairings: M. White & N. Davie; C. White & I. Watson; H. Wolstenholme & Sally Gow.

Ayr Ladies 2 lost 5-4 to to Troon 2. Pairings were: S. Moore & Sadie Gow; J. Murdoch & K. Dauthieu; M. Moonie & Nicola Prigg.
