Tennis: Ayr serve up a winning double

AYR Lawn Tennis Club’s top gents teams celebrated a double.

The firsts won 9-0 against Prestwick Symington 2. Ayr pairings were: G. MacDonald & A. Paul; Paul Gallagher & T. McGuigan; E. McCorkindale & F.Tait.

The seconds beat Largs 1 by 9-0. Pairings: S. Murdoch & S. Murphy; G. McKenzie & B.Young; R. MacDonald & I. Pye

Ayr gents 3 had a mixed week, winning 5-4 against Troon 3 on Tuesday. Pairings: A. White & G. Rooney; M. Gurum & M. Whiteford; R. Rodgers & S. Boom.

On Thursday, they lost 8-1 against Largs 1. Pairings: A. White & A. Todd; M. Gurum & G. Rooney; F. Baird & A. Kirkwood.

The ladies 1 beat Kilmarnock 1 by 7-2 and Coylton 1 by 8-1. Pairings for both matches were: M. White & N. Davie; C. White & L. Crone; I. Watson & H. Wolstenholme.

The ladies 2 had a good draw away to Carrick when although the score was 5-4 in sets, the match was drawn on the number of games.

Pairings for Ayr were: Madeline Moonie & Antonia Facchini; Kathleen Dauthieu & Sally Gow; Sheena Moore & Kim Murdoch.

On Thursday, they beat Kilmarnock 2 by 7-2. Pairings were: June Murdoch & Sally Gow; Sheena Moore & Kim Murdoch; Jane Anderson & Christine Baillie.
