Hockey: Students too hot for Ayr

AYR gents fourth team lost 2-0 away to Glasgow University thirds.

With goalkeeper David Munro and sweeper Derek Steel in excellent form, the game remained even at the break.

Alistair Laing began to dictate play and supplied some good through balls for the Ayr attack but the Uni defended well and scored from a raised ball into the circle which left the visitors feeling hard done by.

The Uni killed off the contest late on with a well worked second goal. Man of the match was Laing who worked tirelessly in midfield and was unselfish in his build-up play in supplying the Ayr youngsters.
