Hockey: Ayr men's fourth

AYR men's fourth team hit back for a 1-1 draw away to Helensburgh seconds.

Ayr started strongly, playing some nice passing hockey, but the Helensburgh keeper pulled off two saves on the line from Craig Milby and Aston Kerr.

The hosts had a big hitting defender who was able to move the ball from defence into attack, very quickly missing out the midfield and hurting Ayr on the break. From one such break, Helensburgh won and converted a short corner strike to take the lead.

The second half continued in the same vein with Ayr pushing forward, playing some neat passing hockey and Helensburgh defending well with a threat on the break.

Ayr were rewarded for their persistence when Milby equalised at the far post after Andrew Gerrard picked him out with a pass from the top of the circle.

Youngsters Aston Kerr, Colin Casey and Ross Wallace all played well while man of the match was Colin Forsyth who showed some excellent skills and determination.
