COYLE WATER FISHERY (Coylton): another disastrous week weather wise with the fishery being iced over virtually every morning.
Constant ice breaking from members of staff is helping to keep most parts of the fishery open but only the hardiest of anglers are venturing out at the moment. The fish are very lethargic and not particularly feeding well making it difficult to catch.
The anglers who have braved the conditions have fared best when using floating or slow intermediate set ups. Those fish that are feeding are around four to five feet below the surface. Yellow Dancers, Buzzers and Nomads have been the patterns that are most productive.
HOWWOOD (Paisley): a quiet week with the fishery being iced over. This prompted the cancellation of the regular bait competition leaving many keen bait anglers disappointed. The event has been re-scheduled for Sunday February 22. The usual range of prizes will be on offer. Contact John on 01505 702688.
LAWFIELD TROUT FISHERY (Kilmacolm): fishery manager Billy McFerren says that in his near 20 years of running Lawfield this has been by far the most severe winter he can remember. Almost from October, fisheries have been hit with high winds and lashing rain followed by lengthy periods of ice and snow. Contact Billy on 01505 874182.
MIDDLETON (Largs): fishing has been tough this week with heavy snow and freezing temperatures putting the fish down.
