Ice Skating: Speed skaters on top form
MEMBERS of Ayrshire Flyers Speed Skating Club starred at the Scottish Open Championships at Dundee.
Podium results: Craig Miller: first in senior men; Rosslyn Waite second in junior ladies; Shannon Scott: third in junior ladies; Kathryn Thomson: first in pee wee; Megan Murray: third in junior novice; Senior novice: 1. Neil Cameron; 2. Paul McKeen; 3. Crawford Gillies.
Seven club skaters travelled to the Sheffield Open with lots of personal bests. Roy Walker was second in junior men while Samantha Inch, returning from injury, skated well and was awarded second in junior ladies.
Flyers are coached by Archie Marshall, a former Olympian skater, at the Magnum on Thursdays (4.45-6.15pm) and Sundays (12.15-1.30pm).
