Badminton: Brothers clean up

BROTHERS Andrew and James Milton cleaned up five titles at the Ayrshire Primary School Badminton Championships.

And Mauchline pupils contested every final at the Ayrshire primary event at Prestwick, the first time this has been done by players from the same school.

Andrew won the primary boys’ singles and doubles. Older brother James starred at the secondaryfinals with three titles.

Following in his young brother’s footsteps, Auchinleck Academy pupil James served up a hat-trick at the secondary championships at Grange Academy.

He took the under 14 boys’ singles and doubles with Gavin Lowe and the under 16 mixed with Emma Cook. Emma, also of Auchinleck Academy, took all three titles at the under 16 age group, playing doubles with Shereen Spittal.

Auchinleck also had several double title winners with Gavin Lowe taking the under 14 doubles and the mixed with Rachel McAree. Kirsten Geals won the under 19 singles and the doubles with Gail Woodburn. Gail also took the mixed with Gary Gibson.
