Cricket: Cheque boost for young Prestwick players

YOUNG Prestwick cricketers have been handed a £1000 boost to build new practice nets.

The cash comes from the The Foundation for Sport and the Arts, established in 1991.

Central Ayrshire MP Brian Donohoe delivered the cheque to 1st XI skipper Fraser Macdonald. Mr Donohoe said: “Despite the credit crunch and the resulting pressure on grant awarding bodies to limit their funding, it’s very heartening to hear that young people in my constituency are being supported in this way.”
