THE wet weather left Ayr and Prestwick kicking their heels as the season nears its conclusion.
It was frustration for Ayr as no play was possible over the weekend, knocking out all games plus the midweek West League Cup semi final away to West of Scotland.
The only games played during the week were by the under 16 Western District Academy side, captained by Neil Smith, and including Scott McElnea.
Smith was player of the tournament after scoring a century against Caledonia and 70 against Northumberland.
This weekend sees Ayr travel to Clydesdale in the penultimate league game of the season where the ground will hopefully have dried out after Scotland’s 4 Day game against Kenya was washed out without a ball being bowled.
The Cambusdoon XI are at home to Anniesland on Saturday.
MGM Prestwick were also left idle as their match at Dunfermline fell foul of the conditions.
The Oval men face Stoneywood-Dyce at home on Saturday before taking on Sidley in a friendly on Tuesday (2.30pm start).
The under-18 side beat Poloc by 59 runs after Archie McDonald knock of 58 helped Prestwick to 119-7. Poloc were skittled out for 60 in reply with Darren Thomson taking 3-6 and Craig Morrison posting 3-10.
The under-15s were also victorious as they overcame East Kilbride by seven wickets. Fraser Rodger and David Laird ripped through the batting to leave East Kilbride on 63-9 before Prestwick easily knocked off the runs with Eoin Bailey scoring 22.
The under-18s will contest the final of the Frank Smith Trophy against Greenock next Wednesday at Poloc. Start time 6pm.
