Crowds flock to Eglinton Horse Trials

CROWDS flocked to the 50th Eglinton Horse Trials at Barskimming estate.

They watched 300 riders in 32 classes competing in the three disciplines dressage, showjumping and the 23 fence two and half mile cross country.

In the UK, only Badminton Horse Trials pre-dates the Eglinton event which has hosted many Olympic riders including Princess Anne and Mark Phillips.

The Hon Heather Galbraith (78), together with her sister Jean (86) still maintains more than 20 horses in training at Barskimming.

Novice Section E: 1. Harriet Baird riding Persian Coin; 2. Hannah Atkinson riding Fernhill Tiger Valley; 3. Jamie Atkinson riding Bally Ard.
