AYR Racecourse stages its popular Family Day Raceday on Sunday with the seven races attracting an entry of 197 runners at the five day stage.
Totesport are the principal sponsors and the action kicks off with the Bet totepool On All UK Racing Handicap over six furlongs at 2.20pm when Linda Perratt’s recent Musselburgh second Forrest Star could go close.
The principal race on the card is the Campbeltown Bar Stewart Scott Memorial Handicap over one mile with £10,000 in prize money. Among the interesting entries here are Yamal from the Mark Johnston stable, Richard Whittaker’s Vicious Warrior and the Jim Goldie trained trio of Stellite, Esoterica and Wind Shuffle.
The totesport 0800 221 221 Handicap over one mile five furlongs looks like a perfect opportunity for Forrest Flyer, a course winner on Saints and Sinners night to follow up again although the ultra consistent Bijou Dan will also be thereabouts.
Final race on the card is The WaterAid Ladies Night 9th August Amateur Riders Handicap at 5.20pm over five furlongs and look for a big run here from the David Barker trained Whinhill House.
With Ayr being the only meeting in the north on Sunday, expect appearances from some of the leading jockeys including Joe Fanning, Tom Eaves, Franny Norton and Adrian T Nicholls.
The course opens to the public at 12.20pm. Children’s entertainment includes bouncy castle, fun fair rides, pony rides, a static display from the RAF plus a live appearance from Magic Malky.
