Early mornings up until noon are best times to ensure full bag limits with other times although fishing well are a little more challenging. Tam Muir had three fish on catch and release, Billy Testo released three, Jackie Pride took one for 2lbs 8oz and released three. Mr Birtsoa took two for 5lbs 4oz, Mr Birnie from Dunblane had one for 3lbs.
Mr Galashan from Aberdeen took one for 3lbs 4oz. Regular Ian Muncie managed eight over two early morning visits.Mr Haggarty took two for 5lbs 6oz.
Next episode in the never ending story of friends Davy and Ian took a turn for the better with Davy having ten this week to Ian’s one fish. Ian has now decided chocolate biscuits might be the answer and now intends to bribe staff for catching information.

Best flies and tactics this week have been floating line set-ups teamed with buzzers of various colours. Hot head damsels have also done well, dries will entice the fish but actual takes are few and far between, a little more rain will bring levels up to normal and fishing will be much improved. The Heartstone Club from Glasgow had a most enjoyable day taking a total of 64lbs of fish between them.
Bait fishing has been good and consistent all week with nearly everyone leaving with bag limits. Mr Slade from East Kilbride took four fish for 7lbs 4oz. Mr Brown from Stevenston had three for 6lbs. Mr Hay had three for 5lbs. Mr McDonald from Ayr took three for 6lbs 8oz. J. McCafferty took three for 5lbs.
Best tactics have been to fish with a bubble and fish with bait at around 3ft 6 inches from the surface. Power bait has been the most consistent with worms doing well also. For Information call the fishery on 01292 571291
BURNS TROUT FISHERY (near Tarbolton): The fishery is holding a junior open competition (under 16s) sponsored Scottish Fishing Tackle (fly or bait) on Saturday July 5 at 9am to 3.30pm and will cost £15, four fish limit, heaviest bag wins. Trophies for first three.

HOWWOOD (near Paisley): Fishing has been consistent over the last week with excellent hatches of sedge and olive midge. Best flies have been CDCs, suspender buzzers, sedges, kate maclaren, damsels and diawl bach.
Sunday’s team competition was won by Team seven captained by Owen Gillespie with a total weight of 63lbs 6oz and they won £250. Second was Team four captained by John Holding total weight 53lbs 7oz and they won £100. Total fish landed was 90.

SPRINGWATER (Dalrymple): fly pond fishing really well. Kenny Stevenson of Ayr released 20 fish on a small orange lure. Jim Nisbet from Kilwinning, four fish for 11lbs 11oz. John Watson from Airdrie, four fish for 15lbs 6oz and released 10 more. The biggest fish was 7lb.
Bait pond fishing better, Dylan Gilmour, age 14 from Kilwinning, had three fish for 9lbs 6oz. Mr Gilmour had a good fish of 4lbs, Ricky Adams had three for 7lbs 10oz, Best method was fishing on the bottom with worm and power bait.

Coarse pond fishing well with loads of small carp and a few tench being caught. Biggest carp this week came from Jim Anderson with a ghost carp of 7lbs 8oz. Biggest tench was 4lbs 8oz, best bait was sweetcorn and pellet. All bait is available at the fishery.
MIDDLETON FISHERY (Largs): fishing been good most of the week with most fish coming to dries. Catches: J. Boylan had four fish for 11lb 5oz and released five, W. Munn had two for 6lb 8oz, R. McGregor had three for for 9lb 2oz, A. Anderson two for 5lb, K Lynch had four for 10lb 3oz, A. Hall had four for 9lb 2oz, A. Gardener had two for 6lb 8oz, D. Beattie had four for 8lb 15oz, I.
