AYR RACECOURSE promises something for everyone this weekend.
The highly anticipated Saints and Sinners event comes to Ayr for the first time and promises to bring with it glamour, fun and top entertainment.
The sensational two day meeting is bigger and better than ever before and is jam packed with a huge selection of entertainment during and after the races.
On Friday night racing kicks off at 6.10pm to the sounds of Beats of Brazil who will provide their boisterous samba sounds throughout the course. And for those who like their sounds more mellow, a jazz band will also be playing.
Afterwards, the ever popular Bjorn Again take to the stage in the new Grandstand Bar to perform Abba’s greatest hits.
And at the same time in the Horseshoe Bar, the Monster Mash cabaret show takes place. This Rocky Horror Show style act brings a touch of Transylvania to the racecourse complete with a stage set that feature crumbling castle walls.
On Saturday, racing gets underway at 2.35pm. After racing it’s the turn of Queen tribute band Kings of Queen to wow the crowd in the Grandstand Bar while local band Reload will play their usual set of covers in the Horseshoe Bar.
And on both days silver coins will be given away as Ayr launches its legendary Ladies Day competition.
Best dressed ladies will be awarded a silver coin which guarantees them a place in Ladies Day Final on Friday September 19.
Already the mystery car, the star prize, has been paraded through Ayrshire and beyond in a box on the back of an Iveco truck and has also made an appearance at several race days and at Burns Rock At The Racecourse.
Ayr Racecourse Marketing Manager Lindsey Smith said: “We are really excited about the start of our Ladies competition and the unveiling of the car.
“We are expecting around 15,000 people over the two day meeting and I am confident we will see some worthy ladies make their way to the final by receiving a silver coin.”
Bars and restaurants open at 4.10pm on Friday and at 12.25pm on Saturday. To find out more about the June meetings call 0870 8505666 or go online at www.ayr-racecourse.co.uk
