Auchinleck bowlers in national pairs semis

AUCHINLECK duo Stewart Anderson and David Wilson qualified for the semi finals of the SIBA national pairs at Coatbridge, beating East Kilbride, Cowal, Galleon and West Lothian.

The pair will now play Elgin at Prestwick on Saturday, March 27 in the semi-final.

Claire Johnston and Coleen Cowie were beaten in their first match against Allander at Lanarkshire by one shot in the playdown of the SWIBA national pairs.

Winners of an open triples, sponsored by CISWO, were Billy McArthur, Bill Kerr and Jack Miller who beat Josephine Williamson, Joe Williamson and Margaret Bingham 7-3.

Sunday’s Baird Bowl results: Auchinleck 4, Mauchline 4; Cumnock 6, Sorn 2; Indoor 8, Galston 0; Lugar 6, Ochiltree 2.

The finals of the regional competitions were being played this week – on Tuesday, Stewart Anderson against Jim McCracken in the final of the mixed pairs, Billy Anderson against Garry Johnstone in the final of the mixed triples. Garry Johnstone was facing Robert McLatchie in the final of regional singles on Wednesday.

The club will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day, re-opening on Sunday at 9.30am when the gents invitation fours, sponsored by Scottish Coal, will take place. Club president Marilyn Ferguson, lady president Heather Kay, lady directors and staff wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
