East Ayrshire council launch school of rugby

CUMNOCK Academy pupils will get their chance in Scotland’s first school of rugby.

It has been launched by East Ayrshire Council’s leisure development services and will be supported by Scottish Rugby.

The school will provide ten boys starting Cumnock Academy in August and 17 boys due to attend Grange Academy with the chance to participate in an enhanced curriculum timetable which includes a rugby activity session every day in their first year at secondary school.

The School of Rugby will help grow the School of Sport philosophy which sees both rugby and football being added to the curriculum. Over the past two years, a pilot Scottish FA School of Football has been delivered at Cumnock Academy.
