Carrick Rugby Club lose to Bishopton in the bowl

A MUCH changed Carrick side lost 8-3 to Bishopton in the bowl at Renfrew.

There was a new player/coach in Stephen Raby at the helm for his first game in charge since Kenny McCahill stepped down. On field, there were changes in personnel and also various positional switches.

After a scoreless first-half, Carrick started strongly only to concede an early penalty. However, Michael Parker quickly equalised.

Carrick’s defence, having held firm, had a momentary lapse which resulted in the opposition scrum half breaking down the blindside and scoring in the corner. The conversion was missed.

With 20 minutes to go, Carrick chased the game but to no avail.

On Saturday, Carrick return to league action and host Loch Lomond (kick-off 2pm).
