AYR Rugby Club's S1 team had a fitting end to their season in the grand surroundings of Murrayfield.
They were invited to play in a tournament on the back pitches beside the national stadium with 15 other teams from all over Scotland.
And they went through their group games undefeated, losing only one try in the process against teams from Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
This took them to the final game against Howe of Fife, which was played on the main pitch just before the Scotland v South Africa semi-final.
The game ended tied at three tries apiece, but with Ayr scoring first, this gave them the win.
The boys then watched Scotland lose in sudden death to South Africa in a hard fought semi-final.
Having played 28 games, winning 22, drawing two and losing four, Ayr managed to rack up 117 tries along the way.
Top try scorer was Douglas Callan, with David Lymburn gaining a 77 per cent kicking record.
This set the team in good spirits for their end of season tour.
The Ayr S1s travelled to France for the biggest S1 tournament in Europe and managed to win the Arras Cup against older opposition.
Ayr coaches Jim Lymburn and Ian Stirling would like to thank Stephen Craig of All Saints, Stephen Ritchie Drive Businesses Ltd and David Rose RTS Contracts Ltd for their generous sponsorship of the tour and making it possible in the first place.
Special mention to the prize winners for the season – captain Michael Craig, who led by example all season and deservedly won the players’ player award.
Callum Hamilton was named player of the year and Jamie Morrison took the most improved player award.
Coaches Jim and Ian would like to thank all the team and their parents for their efforts during the season.
