MARR crushed Strathmore 46-10 at Fullarton Park to make it six wins on the trot.
The first half was a tight affair but with three minutes to go Don Morrison was given a yellow card and sent to the sin bin for ten minutes for a high tackle. This gave Marr the impetus and Andrew Watson ran in his first try.
Marr came to life in the second-half and scored another five tries. Scott Bickerstaff ran in two great tries showing his speed and strength, Andrew Watson added a second while Stuart Millar scored from a well rehearsed lineout move straight off the training paddock.
Man of the match Andrew Gault scored a great try using Kevin Pattie as a decoy before ghosting through the defenders to touch down. Strathmore added a try of their own and a penalty.
The forwards provided good quick ball which the backs used well, with clinical finishing in particular from Gault who caused Strathmore problems all afternoon. Winger Bickerstaff came a close second for the man of the match award. Andrew Bate had another good game behind a dominant pack while Rory McGee kicked from hand well.
Marr 2nd XV lost 21-8 at home to Strathendrick. Gavin Mason kicked an early penalty before scum-half David Drummond broke his collar bone. The only other points came from a try by winger Kris Ferguson.
Chris Galloway played well when he replaced Drummond while Ryan Kirk had another strong game in the centre. There are no games this weekend.
CARRICK’S home game against Paisley on Saturday will be played at Rozelle with a 3pm kick-off.
