Marr Rugby Club make an exit

MARR bowed out of the Scottish Hydro Electric Bowl when they lost 22-12 away to Cambuslang in the second round.

Cambuslang, who are second bottom of National League One, proved too hot as the Fullarton men missed most of their regular back line who were injured or unavailable.

The 2nd XV stand-off Gavin Mason came in at scrum half while veteran Steven Galloway started at ten. Luke Davies came in on the wing and Andrew Watson moved to full back.

In the pack, Fraser Ferguson was missing in the front row and John Duncan started at prop, Darren O'Connor was also missing with Kris Kirk and coach Kevin Pattie starting in the second row.

Cambuslang raced 10-0 ahead before Andrew Watson chipped the ball ahead, Luke Davies chased the kick, gathered and deftly shipped it on to Watson who touched down. Mason converted.

The hosts stretched their lead to 22-7 after the break before with ten minutes left Matt Pittam made a 70 metre break before passing to Watson who crossed the line for his second try.

Marr played well with a few 2nd XV players stepping up against higher placed opposition and putting in good performances.

Coach Kevin Pattie was pleased with the performance but not happy about the scheduling of a tour to Paris during the season which meant that many of the first fifteen were not available.

On Saturday, the firsts entertain Lismore with a 2pm kick off. The seconds travel to second placed GHK with a 3pm kick off.

CARRICK were unable to raise a team for their third round Scottish Hydro Electric Cup West Region Plate game away to Hawick Linden on Sunday and therefore forfeit the tie.

On Saturday, Carrick travel to Cowal on league business.
