AYR Rugby Club under 15s are off to Murrayfield for a national cup final.
A 14-12 win over Glasgow Hawks earns them a showdown against Stirling County on Sunday, March 29. It will be Ayr’s first final since Derrick Lee’s team did it 19 years ago.
And it keeps the club on a high with the senior side set to wrap up their first ever Premier Division One crown.
Stand-off Danny McCluskey ran in a fine solo try from 22 yards which George Wylie converted.
Hawks replied before the break with a try but missed the conversion.
A tense second half saw a fine try from Robbie Mackie with Wylie again converting to stretch the lead to 14-5. Hawks managed a second consolation try in injury time.
In a great all round team performance, man of the match was Blair Jardine.
