Ayr Rugby Club have to wait for title

AYR Rugby Club will have to wait another fortnight to wrap up their first ever Premier title.

The Millbrae trailblazers, needing just four points, were left frustrated when their trip to Currie was iced off last weekend.

And now with Scottish Cup fixtures filling the bill for the next two weekends, Ayr celebrations are on hold until Sunday March 1 when they head to Myreside to play Watsonians.

Should the title then come to Millbrae, the home crowd will have the chance to acclaim their heroes on March 7 when Edinburgh Accies are the visitors.

On Saturday, Ayr travel to Premier Three whipping boys Livingston in the fourth round of the cup. The expected win there will send them to either Gordonians or Hawick the following week.
